Gone are the days where we encourage clients to do slow, continuous-paced cardio workouts, and this certainly should apply when it comes to training our new mums too.
Is HIIT suitable for the postnatal client? Well, yes and no.
As an Ante/Postnatal Fitness Expert, I feel it’s important we keep abreast of changes in exercise, training and education when it comes to postnatal clients. It’s a pretty confusing time for new mums, and with so much misinformation available on the internet, it’s no wonder our clients are confused.
HITT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. You know your clients best. If you feel that adding high impact work is inappropriate for them, then use your own judgement.
However, if you’re asking me: “Do you do HIIT training with your postnatal clients, Claire?”, the answer is yes.
